"AFGHANISTAN ON THE BRINK"
Presentation from a recent eyewitness
Saturday, August 9, 7:00 PM, Peace House, 2116 NE 18th

On Saturday, August 9, Professor Zaher Wahab will speak about the current situation in Afghanistan at Peace House, 2116 NE 18th, at 7 PM; the talk will be followed by Q&A with the audience. The Portland professor has worked part time in Afghanistan and has been witness to the US Occupation for the past 13 years. While Afghans recently went to the polls to vote for a new President, both candidates promised to sign a Status of Forces Agreement with the US allowing an estimated 10,000 American troops to stay in the country at least until 2016, possibly longer. Referring to the deteriorating and possibly country-dividing violence in Iraq, Professor Wahab says "I fear that Afghanistan could become Iraqistan."

This event is being co-coordinated by Peace and Justice Works Iraq Affinity Group and Occupy Portland Elder Caucus. For more information call Peace and Justice Works at 503-236-3065.
