"Why Won't the US Military Leave Afghanistan?"

Rally/ March
Friday, October 4, 2019
5:00 PM
Pioneer Courthouse Square, SW Yamhill and Broadway

Join the Peace and Justice Works Iraq Affinity Group as they cosponsor the weekly Portland Peaceful Response Coalition Rally and March for Peace and Justice on Friday, October 4 at 5 PM at Pioneer Courthouse Square, SW Yamhill and Broadway. The US invaded Afghanistan a few weeks after 9/11. Now 18 years later, the Trump administration has negotiated with the Taliban for a way for the US to extract itself from "America's longest war."

The plans call for leaving thousands of US troops in Afghanistan-- nearly 9000 of the 14,000 currently there. The Pentagon, pundits and some Democratic presidential candidates are all supporting the idea of staying in Afghanistan-- presumably indefinitely. Join us at this special version of the weekly Friday rally to say "Bring ALL the Troops Home from Afghanistan!"

PPRC has held a rally every Friday since November 2001, shortly after the invasion, to protest the war and other US policies (more than 925 weeks in a row).
